What Do You Love Most about Tattnall?

I wouldn't trade anything for the friendships I have made with faculty members and parents whose children I have taught!

Bio:

In 1993 I received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from a great university in Alabama. Once I returned to Macon, I was hired to teach first grade for the Bibb County Public School System, and after three years moved to a new school within the system to teach kindergarten for another three years. At that time, I was able to stay home while our children were young. I began teaching at Tattnall in 2008, though I was on campus for several years prior to that as both a parent and a substitute teacher. Working with the faculty at TSA only increased my desire to have a permanent place here. God opened that door when I was offered a position in fourth grade. After teaching seven years in fourth, I moved to fifth and sixth, teaching reading. Now I teach 6th grade English and Language Arts (ELA). I am married to Steve Ford (TSA '86) and we have 2 sons, Dalton (TSA '18) and Camden (TSA '21). As a family, we attend Lizella Baptist Church. My husband and I have been active with the Student Ministry since 1995. Over our years there, I’ve enjoyed teaching ninth and tenth-grade girls, Juniors, Seniors, College and Career, and K’Nect Ministry for fifth and sixth graders. I also have worked in the AWANA ministry, serving as the Director for the Cubbies (3 and 4-year-olds) for several years. As my own boys were rapidly approaching the end of their careers at Tattnall, I really began to miss those times with a little one in my lap. So, for the past few years, I have been serving in the nursery department and am thoroughly enjoying working in Sunday School with the one and two-year-olds. They love to sit in my lap!

Fun Fact:

As an elementary student, I wanted to be a race car driver.
