Congratulations to our 2015 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Laura Ford!  Laura has been a fordlower school faculty member at TSA since 2008. She was selected as Teacher of the Year by her peers for her patience, work ethic, commitment to her job, motivational skills, and positive attitude. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she also serves on the Technology Committee at Tattnall. Comprised of five faculty members, the Technology Committee ushered Tattnall faculty and staff into the forefront of the digital classroom. Laura’s lower school colleagues especially enjoy having her as their resident technology guru.

More about Mrs. Ford – Laura graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1993 where she received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. She taught Kindergarten and 1st grade, each for 3 years, in the Bibb County Public School System. She began teaching at Tattnall in 2008, though she was on campus for several years prior to that as a parent and a substitute teacher. Working with the faculty at TSA only increased her desire to have a permanent place here. God opened that door when she was offered a position in Fourth grade. “Fourth grade students are amazing: kind, welcoming, incredibly inquisitive, and excited to learn. I love the challenge!” She is married to Steve Ford (TSA ’86) and they have two boys, Dalton (TSA ’18) and Camden (TSA ’21), both attending TSA. Their family attends Lizella Baptist Church where Laura and Steve have been active with the Student Ministry since 1995.

Upon hearing her name announced as this year’s winner, Mrs. Ford replied “It is overwhelming and humbling to be recognized as this year’s Teacher of the Year. Our halls are filled with teachers who deserve this honor; I consider it a privilege to be counted among them. I am so glad the Lord provided a place for me here at Tattnall to do what I love to do!”

Congratulations, Mrs. Ford! It is a well-deserved honor. We are grateful you have shared your God-given talents with TSA.  Enjoy your new parking spot!
