The Annual “Impact Teacher” Award is decided on by the Baseball Seniors and is given to the teacher who those players believe most impacted their lives at Tattnall. This teacher throws out the Ceremonial First Pitch of the Senior Night Game. The teacher that seniors Hunter Alexander, Carter Fink, and Bo Hatcher have named as their Impact Teacher is Mr. Robbie Burns.
A Blue and Gold lifer since graduating from TSA in 1984, Burns went on to earn his undergraduate (Communications) and graduate (Education) degrees from Mercer University where he also walked on and played baseball. Following college, he worked in the Louisiana State University sports information department for three years. Burns then served as the public relations director at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame for 11 years.
He rejoined the TSA family in 2016 as the World History (9th), Contemporary Studies (12th), and AP European (12th) teacher. He also serves as an assistant coach in the girl’s basketball program and was named tennis head coach in 2017. His step-son, Hunter Lanier, graduated TSA in 2012 and his daughter, Hannah, will do the same in 2021. Burns also authored and self-published his first book, Belue to Scott! The greatest moment in Georgia football history, in 2010.
