Tattnall Square Academy proudly announces that Dr. Amber Christie Zaunbrecher (2001) has been selected as the 2023 Joe Magnan Alumnus of the Year.

As a student at Tattnall, Dr. Zaunbrecher played on the Varsity Girls’ Soccer team and served as the team’s captain her senior year. She was elected Student Council President her senior year and was selected for the Valentine’s Court. Dr. Zaunbrecher ended her senior year at Tattnall by being named the senior superlative Most Likely to Succeed.

Upon graduation from TSA, she attended the University of Georgia, where she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology, before attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where she obtained her Optometry degree. In 2012, she completed a one-year residency at UAB in Family Practice, emphasizing in Ocular Disease.

Professionally, Dr. Zaunbrecher has received a myriad of accolades. She is a published author, having written articles for Primary Care Optometry News and the Review of Optometric Business. She also received the College of Optometrist in Vision Development Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy and the ABBA Optical Excellence Award for prescribing gas-permeable contact lenses in 2011.

Dr. Zaunbrecher is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and the Georgia Optometric Association. She is also a key opinion leader for Visioneering Technology, having participated in four clinical trials while acting as an educational speaker.

Currently, Dr. Zaunbrecher works at Georgia Eye Partners in Woodstock, Georgia.

Dr. Zaunbrecher addressed the Class 0f 2023 at this year’s commencement services on May 15, 2023.
