Summer at the Square 2019

Tattnall Square Academy offers a variety of summer camps beginning at the end of May and lasting through the beginning of the school year. Each camp is taught by individual faculty members or TSA coaches.

Voted “Best Summer Camp” by readers of the Macon Telegraph for four consecutive years, Tattnall summer camps are a great way to stay active during the summer months while learning, having fun, and making new friends! All camps are open to the public.

We do not offer camp scholarships or sponsorships.

Oceans of Fun 
Kick off summer with a splash! Oceans of Fun camp will focus on the study of different ocean animals as well as incorporate some water fun! Each day, we will learn different facts about our great, big ocean while participating in arts and crafts, science experiments, and water games. Additionally, ocean-themed snacks will be provided. Come join us as we splash into summer!

Driver’s Education
This course will help prepare future drivers with 6 hours of behind the wheel driving and 30 hours of classroom instruction. Driving time will be scheduled on an individual basis. By completing this course, your child will have fulfilled the Joshua’s Law requirement to obtain their license and will also be eligible to receive a break on insurance premiums. Additional instruction will include parallel parking, pre-trip inspection, and smart-phone navigation.

Cupcake Wars
Prepare for war….cupcake style! Each day, campers will learn decorating tips and will create and design their own cupcakes. Teams will face off and be judged for best taste, creativity, presentation, and more! If your child loves baking or working in the kitchen, he/she will love this camp! All levels of cupcake expertise are welcome! This will be messy, tasty, and FUN!

“Cardboard Creativity” Maker Camp
It’s amazing what children can create with just their brain and some cardboard! Campers will work together in the Maker Space becoming innovators as they use the Engineering Design Process to create cardboard arcade games, rockets, robots, and more! If they can imagine it, they can create it! *Class size = 10 minimum & 20 max

Little Music Makers
Sing, dance, and play! Campers will play instruments, sing songs, play games, learn dances, and have tons of fun! We will have a short performance in the music classroom on Friday, May 31st at 11:45 a.m.

Baseball Camp
Tattnall Baseball Camp will focus on the fundamentals of the game with emphasis on hitting, throwing, catching, defense, pitching, and baserunning. Campers will learn the “Tattnall Way” in a fun setting where they will get individual attention, video feedback, and be able to learn a strong foundation of skills and drills that they can take with them after they leave camp. Coach Hiller will be the lead instructor and will be assisted by his current Varsity level players.

Fancy Nancy Camp
Come spend the week with us as we enjoy the adventures of Fancy Nancy. Dress up, tea parties, fancy pajamas and all things girly! Campers will also be exposed to the fabulous writing from Fancy Nancy author, Jane O’Connor, through literacy centers, writing, and drama. First grade students and above may take Accelerated Reader tests on Fancy Nancy books.

Theatre Camp
Join us as we play fun drama games and rehearse for a mini-musical. Our performance will be in Trojan Hall Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m.

Exciting Explorers
This camp will awaken young minds to the wonders of science. Through science activities and experiments, they will learn to enjoy the world of science. We will explore the oceans, find treasures, follow the path of marbles, “follow” rainbows, watch volcanoes erupt, and more!

Wacky Science Camp- “Mars Colony”
Come join us as we investigate science through role play! Science will come alive as campers assume the active role of astronaut cadets who must prepare for their flight mission, blast off to Mars, and set up a colony on the Red Planet. In this interactive and engaging camp, we will explore science concepts like force, motion, rocketry, needs of plants, properties of water, robotics, and wind energy. Activities include launching rockets, building and programing a Mars rover, conducting science experiments, exploring the power of wind energy, and making slime.

Soccer Camp
This camp is designed to sharpen the players technical ability, improve ball control, increase soccer knowledge, and elevate the players game while having fun. Players will be challenged daily while also improving their individual ability and increasing their soccer knowledge.

Fiber Arts and Tie Dye Art Camp
Campers will be introduced to the ancient art of Japanese Shibori techniques with fabric, Batik resist art with paint and wax alternative, and traditional tie-dye! We will use the folding techniques in Shibori to create a design and then submerge our creations in indigo dye to create a beautiful indigo tie dye effect! Each camper will use their indigo fabric to sew their very own floor pillow covers! Next, we will use a batik technique to make a one of a kind creation onto your very own tote bag. Finally, we will play around with traditional tie-dye techniques to dye a colorful t-shirt! Campers will get to take home their floor pillow covers, tote bags, AND tie dye t-shirts!

School of Rock!
Get ready to rock and roll! During this three day camp, we will be taking the songs that students love on the radio and making them our own through the use of orff and classroom instruments! Any students who have their own guitars or other instruments are welcome to bring them to help us jam out! Students will work on composing their own songs as well. No musical background is needed. We will have a short presentation on Wednesday, June 12th at 2:30 p.m. in the music room. This will be a blast for all!

Boys, Balls, and Blocks
Come spend the week with us a we enjoy all things BOY! We will spend time constructing fabulous creations using legos and lincoln logs as well as some surprising building materials you may not have ever thought of. For the ball lovers of the group, a part of every morning will be spent throwing, bouncing, catching, dunking and chasing balls. Come enjoy a week where we are all about letting little boys be boys!

Escape the Room STEM Style
Come help us “Escape the Room” while also diving into STEM activities. Help us look for clues, solve riddles, decode puzzles, and more! You will use problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking to escape the room AND complete STEM activities. Each day will have a different theme.

This camp is for anyone who’s ever wanted to learn more about art. Campers will acquire new skills, hone prior knowledge, and create art they will be proud to display. No previous experience is required. Every skill level is welcome. Campers will complete playful and thoughtful assignments daily in their sketchbooks as they work to integrate academic and life skills with art. Campers can rest assured that they will have fun! Be prepared to come with a good attitude and a willingness to learn. Remember, this is camp, not school! At the end of the week, campers will display their art in a collective art show that is open to parents, students, and guests.

Athletic Performance Camp
In this camp, young athletes will be taught the “Tattnall Way.” Campers will be introduced to fundamental movement patterns as they relate to increased athletic performance. Form and technique of these movements are paramount for future development and progression. The importance of proper warm up, body awareness, speed and agility along with sport specific training will be blended into our sessions. Techniques will be progressed throughout the week as campers demonstrate ability. Attention to detail now pays dividends later!

Trojan Football Camp
This youth camp is intended to provide a fundamental foundation for the game of football within a fun and competitive environment.

Get Up and Go Camp!
Get Up and Go Camp is full of fun games and activities! This camp is all about being active and moving as much as possible. Campers will enjoy running, throwing, kicking, and other forms of staying active, while also learning sportsmanship and basic game fundamentals.

Out of This World Solar System Camp
Let’s blast through the solar system as we learn all about space! Daily camp activities include arts,crafts, experiments, math games, and creative writing, all centered around space. This camp culminates with a field trip to the Mark Smith Planetarium!

Cooking Camp
Campers will gain confidence, independence, basic culinary skills, and kitchen safety skills as they learn to prepare a few tasty, kid-friendly dishes. The students will get a chance to taste all of their creations!

Rocking Robotics Camp
Students who are fascinated by robots and other “techie toys” will be introduced to robotics and coding as they explore some cool robots and program them to complete various tasks. On the final day, the robots will compete in the “Robot Games” that campers design. This camp encourages “out of the box” thinking, curiosity, lots of imagination, inventiveness and a love for technology!

Commotion in the Ocean
Every day, our kids are challenged to stand for God in our culture, no matter what. They are bombarded with the lie that God’s Word isn’t true when it relates to science. Let’s learn together to trust all of God’s Word! Crazy snacks, fun experiments and unique crafts will all be part of our week together as we look at how Noah and the flood shaped the world we know today.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
At this camp, students will put their creative energies to use to make their own unicorns and trolls while enjoying a mani/pedis, hair styling, tea parties, crafting, cooking, and more! Because girls just wanna have fun!

American Girl Camp
Come explore the adventures of American girls from colonial times to the present through crafting, games, and imaginative play with the dolls. Please bring your own 18 inch doll (does not have to be AG).

Tiny Trojan Cheer Camp

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of cheerleading.  Campers will learn chants, jumps, tumbling skills, and a dance.  Additionally, the participants will be invited to cheer the second quarter of the first varsity home football game.
