MACON, Ga. – Smothers is a widely recognizable name in the Tattnall family. Synonymous with numbers and mathematics, the name represents more than a championship dynasty. The Smothers Family has been a part of Tattnall since the early 80’s, and their contributions to the Tattnall community simply cannot be measured. This year, Tattnall Square Academy has selected another Smothers family member as the 2015 Joe Magnan Alumnus of the Year, Mr. Andy Smothers.

Andy, the oldest child of Mrs. Carolyn Smothers and her husband Tom, graduated from Tattnall in 1986. In the classroom, Andy was an honor graduate, a member of Beta Club, and was commended for his friendly disposition with a senior superlative. On the basketball court, Andy earned All Region and All State titles before being named MVP during his senior year. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a BS in Management and Finance, Andy completed accounting courses at GSU and became a CPA in 1998. Andy joined Bank South as an auditor in 1992 before jumping to the aircraft industry in 1995 serving as a Contract Supervisor with Delta Air Lines. From there, Andy dove into the retail industry where he fulfilled multiple roles, including Financial Projects Manager, Business Unit Controller, and Regional Controller, over several years with National Linen Service out of Atlanta.

In 2005, Andy joined Deloitte Services LP where he managed all financial aspects of the Southeast region for the consulting firm. Today, Andy serves as the Center of Excellence Leader and is responsible for creating and leading a Center of Excellence for the entire US firm.

Outside of the office, Andy and his wife Suzie have three beautiful daughters, Susannah, Emma, and Sophie. The family attends West Cobb Church where Andy serves as a Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Finance Ministry Team, and member of the Leadership Board of Directors. Andy enjoys spending time with his family, road biking, and shooting sports.
