How do you balance taking AP classes, achieving the highest average award in geometry, algebra and pre-calculus honors, managing leadership roles at school and volunteering in your community and church all while ranking in the top 10% of your graduating class? Ask senior Sarah Oxford, Georgia Family Magazine’s Extraordinary Teen Award Winner for February, how she has been able to do all of the above and more!

Sarah shines inside and outside of the classroom. Sarah OxfordThe Extraordinary Teen Award is given to a teen who has been pursuing their passions or who has gone on to become a remarkable young person. Sarah definitely fits the bill!  In addition to excelling in the classroom, she also has a passion for working with children. She is active in volunteering in the daycare at her church, Northway Baptist, as well as going on mission trips with her youth group. She also volunteers in her community to mentor children at Sonny Carter and organizes fundraisers through Tattnall to support the needs of others around the world, such as the disaster in the Phillipines.  Sarah organized a “Dress Down Day” at school and raised over $1,000 to be sent for relief efforts there. It is obvious that she is grounded in her faith and has a heart for others.

Sarah will continue to pursue her lifelong devotion of working with children by majoring in family studies at either Mercer University or Sanford University in the fall.  We can’t wait to see the plans God has for you, Sarah!  Congratulations on a well deserved award!
