tevyn 2Most football fans would say that the playmakers on the team are the quarterbacks, receivers and running backs, but if you ask some Alabama or Auburn fans, they might have a different answer. They may say that the Special Teams players are the ones who make the difference in winning or losing some big games.  Tattnall’s kicker/punter, Tevyn Rogers, would have to agree.  Kickers can definitely be responsible for being the difference in winning a game. As a senior, Tevyn has been in that situation many times.

Growing up, he enjoyed many different sports such as baseball, basketball, soccer and football. It wasn’t until a few years ago that he began to use his strength in kicking on the football field.  This past year, he averaged just over 35 yards per punt, and his longest punt was 55 yards.  Not only did he down 8 of the punts within the 20 yard line, 4 of those were inside the 10 with 11 touchbacks on kickoffs. When it came to extra points, he was just as dependable and consistent. He was 31 out of 34 for extra points and added a 25 yard field goal.

All of his hard work did not go unnoticed this year. Tonight at the Macon Touchdown Club Banquet,Tevyn will be honored as the Special Teams Player of the Year. The winner for this award was chosen from all of the Middle Georgia schools, including public and private. Tevyn would like to continue to his sports career by playing football and/or soccer in college. He is looking to attend either Faulkner University or the Air Force Academy in the fall.

Congratulations, Tevyn, on a job well done!
