Adam Bailey (Class of 2003) will be honored on Friday, September7, 2012, with the retirement of his Tattnall football jersey. Ceremonies will be held on the football field prior to the kickoff of Tattnall’s season opener against John Milledge Academy.
Adam played varsity football at Tattnall for 4 years (3 region championship teams and the 2001 state championship team). As a Tattnall Trojan, Adam handled various duties, including kickoffs, kicking extra points and field goals. At various times he also punted, played defensive back, and quarterback. During his career atTattnall, Adam scored 122 extra points and had seven field goals, including the game winning field goal against Augusta Christian.
After graduating from Tattnall, Adam enrolled at Auburn University with plans to walk on as a kicker, but instead, joined the team as an athletic trainer. Adam served for two years as an athletic trainer and was a part of Auburn’s undefeated 2004 season. Still having a desire to be on the playing field, Adam transferred to Mars Hill College in 2006, where he immediately assumed the kickoff duties for the 2006 season. During the 2007 season, Adam handled kickoffs and punting duties. He averaged 34 yards per punt with 9 punts inside the 20 yard line. In 2008, he punted 49 times for a 35.7 yard average with six punts placed inside the 20 yard line. He also had one fake punt for a 14 yard run.
After graduating from Mars Hill, Adam was awarded a graduate assistant position in marketing with Mercer University’s athletic department. After serving 2 years in this position, Adam completed his Masters of Education degree. Adam is currently employed as a sales representative with Simplex Grinell.
Adam is the son of Sterling and Mickie Bailey. He has one brother, Brian, and a sister, Allie (Class of 2010).
