Miller,JHow long have you been a Tattnall Trojan?

I joined the Tattnall family in 1985. This year is my 34th year teaching third graders. (I taught previously at Gordon Ivey Independent School.)

My favorite thing about working at Tattnall is…Teaching is a calling. I have never regretted following God’s lead into the teaching profession. Working at Tattnall with co-workers, who are some of my best friends, is a blessing. Teaching young minds and working with parents who care make my job a joy.

Favorite book…Charles Martin is a favorite author of mine. When Crickets Cry is his book that I like the most.

Favorite Bible verses or scripture… Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite verse. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” “A bend in the road is not the end of the road… unless you fail to make the turn.” ~ Unknown

My favorite thing about working at Tattnall is…the family community! I came to Tattnall at a very difficult time, during my first wife’s last year of life. I quickly learned that people are here to love and support one another and that has meant so much. This has also been the best place for my daughter Joyanna to find a quality Christian education with great support and encouragement. Since my recent marriage to Sharla, the school has been so welcoming. TSA is a great place to be!

How long have you been a Tattnall Trojan?

August of 2010 was my first year to be here at TSA. That means I am now in my sixth year and am very happy here.

Favorite bookI have several favorite books, but I love to read the writings of Elisabeth Elliot, biographies of great people, and spiritual classics. Probably the Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence would be one of my favorites.

Favorite Bible verses… II Timothy 1:7 (NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
