Macon, Ga. – Kyle Johnson, an 8th grade student at TSA, won the MS Region Championship title (137 lb) last week and earned a spot in the record books with an 11 second pin. Johnson, who won all four of his matches at the region tournament, won his title as he wrestled above his 118 lb weight class.
“He is fundamentally sound in his techniques and has great upper body strength for his weight class. We are definitely looking forward to having him on the varsity wrestling team,” commented Coach Dan Johnson.
Kyle had an outstanding season this school year earning 20 wins with 18 pins and only 1 loss.
“We are excited to watch Kyle progress as a varsity wrestler next year. He has amazing potential, and we are proud of the dedication and passion he shows on the mat,” remarked TSA Athletic Director, Todd Whetsel.
