ImageJoel Henson and his band, The Call, earned the opportunity to open for one of A&E’s largest celebrities this Friday.  The group wrote and filmed their performance of the southern rock style song and submitted their entry on the eve prior to the contest deadline. The trio, made up of Henson and band mates AJ Freeman and Eric Robbins, was informed they would be meeting Willie Robertson and some of his family members from the wildly popular Duck Dynasty.

“We have never played together as a band before this, but we thought we would give it a shot.” said Henson. The band learned they beat out several hundred other contestants, including two national songwriters, for the opportunity to play in front of thousands of Robertson’s fans.

Henson wrote the music and plays guitar on the track though he says his father thinks he is even more talented as a drummer. “I started playing guitar in the 6th grade and have continued playing for my church band through the years.” Joel plans to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University as a Music Industry major in the Fall.

The Duck Dynasty comes to Middle Georgia event will take place at the Macon Coliseum on Friday, April 25th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are still available for Friday evening. Floor tickets are $45 and tickets in the stands are $25. All students will receive $10 off admission with proper student ID. Proceeds will benefit Caring Solutions.
