Jack Haughawout was named Tattnall Square Academy’s STAR Student for the 2014-2015 school year. The student who earns the highest SAT score, in one sitting, is honored with the STAR Student title. This student must also be in the top 10% of his class.
Jack selected Mrs. Carolyn Smothers, renowned math instructor and TSA Math Team coach, as his STAR Teacher. This is the 7th time Mrs. Smothers has been selected as STAR Teacher during her 33 year tenure.
“I scored highest in mathematics, so I felt like Mrs. Smothers was the most appropriate choice,” exclaimed Haughawout. Mrs. Smothers was surprised and honored by the announcement.
In addition to his selection as STAR Student, Jack is a University of Georgia Merit Scholar and a Woffard Scholar. He was presented with the Presbyterian College Academic Award in 2014 and was an Honor Scholar his junior year. Jack is an integral part of the varsity soccer team at TSA earning the Best Defender Award his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. He is also a member of the varsity football and swimming teams. Jack is active in FCA, serves as Key Club President, and is the Vice-President of Y-Club. He participates in Science Club, Young Life, and serves a key role in the TSA Math Team.
