MACON, Ga., Dec. 13, 2018 – Tattnall Square Academy senior Chandler Gay signed a letter of intent to play golf at Truett McConnell College today.

Gay has been Tattnall’s number one golfer since his tenth-grade year. His stroke average per round as a junior was 84.2, an improvement of five shots from his sophomore average. Proving himself an integral member of TSA’s golf program, Gay has been a medalist in three matches over the past two years.

As he spoke at the signing, Coach James Massey says it has been a pleasure coaching and teaching Chandler and watching him represent his family and his school. “One of the things I enjoy about coaching is watching an athlete emerge as a leader of a program. Part of what makes Chandler so special is the focus he has on improving his game,” expressed Massey.

After signing, Gay thanked his family, friends, teachers, teammates and coaches who played critical roles throughout his golf career.

“I appreciate my Tattnall family for everything you all have done for me. It is such a great feeling to follow my dream,” stated Gay.

Gay is the first TSA athlete to sign a letter of intent in golf since Andy Bacchus in 2001.
