Larry G. McLendon, Colonel Retired

Col. McLendon is a life long resident of Macon, GA. He attended, Lanier Senior High School graduating in 1970.
Immediately after high school, he enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard as a Military policeman in the 30 th Military Police Company. He remained in that assignment and was promoted through the ranks to Staff Sergeant.

He attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA and earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant Infantry. He continued his career in various leadership and staff positions with commands at Company, Battalion and Regimental Levels.

During his career, he deployed several times with the Georgia Army National Guard, for Desert Storm, Training Support to the Republic of Georgia, and Operation Joint Forge as the Logistics
Task force Commander supporting the 3 rd Infantry Division and Multi- National Forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo. His career culminated in 2006 after over 36 years of service in a dual assignment as Commander for the 122nd Regiment and as an additional assignment as Rear Detachment Commander for the 48th Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

He earned many awards during his career to include multiple Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation medals, Army achievement medals, 3 mobilization citations, and the Legion of Merit. Upon his retirement he was placed on the State retired List as Brigadier General, Georgia.

Currently, Colonel McLendon resides in Macon with his wife of 38 years, Carolyn. He currently is a Management Consultant for the SRM Group of Atlanta, Ga. He is the father of TSA alums Mallory McLendon Huff and Megan McLendon Jones.
