MACON, Ga., April 2, 2019 –Tattnall Square Academy welcomes Casey Jones back to the Trojan family to take over the girls basketball program.

After a 43 year stretch of coaching at Tattnall, Stratford, Houston County High School, Central High School and First Presbyterian Day School, Casey Jones was fairly sure those days were behind him when he retired from his 18 year stint at FPD in 2018. However, Jones started to get a feeling that a higher power was leading him back to coaching high school basketball.

“I felt like God had other plans for me, and I felt like He truly wanted me to coach again,” Jones said. “I was feeling like some doors were opening for me and one of those opportunities was Tattnall Square Academy. I felt like that is really where I wanted to be.”

“We are excited to have a coach like Casey Jones joining our staff at Tattnall Square Academy,” said Joey Hiller, who will take over as the new athletic director at the end of the school year. “Coach Jones has a passion for basketball, as well as the knowledge and experience to make our program successful, and when talking to him it was obvious that he looks forward to bringing that passion to our girls basketball program.”

Jones won two State Championships at Stratford in the late 80’s and spent his time at FPD in a variety of roles, but his first love has always been basketball.

“I have never lost touch with the high school game and feel like I have the ability to come in and do a great job for Tattnall Square Academy,” Jones said. “This will be my 44th year of coaching, and I can honestly say that I am every bit as excited about this opportunity as the first opportunity I ever had. I truly believe the Lord put me where I need to be.”

There will be a meet and greet scheduled for Coach Jones, student athletes, and their parents. Please look for an announcement on that event coming soon.
