MACON, Ga. — Tattnall Square Academy scored two runs early on in Friday night’s Region 7 A-Private championship at home against Stratford, and starting pitcher Brooks Gorman made sure those runs would be enough.

The Trojans’ hurler struck out 12 batters and only allowed three hits over seven shutout innings, leading his team to a 5-0 win over the Eagles.

Logan Simmons was a catalyst at the top of the order for the home team, turning in the team’s only multi-hit performance and stealing a base in the first inning.

He would set the table for Luke Laskey, who would drive in Simmons and Austin Marchman with a two-run double to left in the bottom of the first. That gave the Trojans an early 2-0 lead.

Tattnall would add two more runs in the second, chasing Stratford starter Trey Giles after giving up three hits and four runs in two innings pitched. Clifton Olmstead came in relief and allowed one run in the remaining four innings.

Now both team await their seeding in the GHSA state playoffs, which kick off next week.
