The varsity boys finished their regular season as the #5 seed in the region and #13 in the GHSA Class A power rankings. The Trojans had a strong showing during the regular season, beating the reigning state champions, Wilkinson County, twice. Game two brought a 56-55 victory with the winning points coming on a three point play by Jimmy Marshall. The boys region tournament begins today and will be hosted by Aquinas High School in Augusta, GA.  The Trojans will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. tonight against the Lincoln County Devils. Semi-final and final rounds of the region tournament will return to Stratford Academy on Friday, February, 10 and Saturday February, 11.

“After a long weekend off, the boys are coming into the game with two strong practices. We are entering a new part of the season at 0-0, so last week’s games do not matter anymore. Lincoln county is a good team, and the boys are ready to come out and compete to make it to the region championship,” commented Coach Jarvis Smith.

The Lady Trojans upset the Lady Bulldogs of Hancock Central High school on Monday evening with a score of 53-42. The girls had a great game with showings from all team members. Blair Back took a charge in the second half to keep the momentum strong for the Lady Trojans. Allie Gordon and Abby Rouse, with 15 and 12 points respectively, both had strong offensive showings for the team to help . The girls will return to the court Friday night in the second round of the tournament as they face FPD at 4:00 p.m. at Stratford. A win against FPD will place TSA in the region championship on Saturday evening.
